Still recovering from RCM2007 in Honolulu, Hawaii. What a location! The hotel was beautiful the beach was hot and sunny; Hawaii is a beautiful location, unless of course you’re having a maintenance conference. Attendance was low this year, about one third the number who came to RCM2006 in Vegas. Once again the people from reliabilityweb did an outstanding job at planning the event and it came off without a hitch as usual. It would be nice to get some RCM Facilitator Training events at this conference.
This conference has been going on for I believe four years now. The idea was to get all the great minds from Reliability Centered Maintenance together along with practitioners to inform people on the different methodologies and the benefits of using RCM. For the most part this seems to work; there are still some who would like to believe that if your not using methodology x you’re not really doing RCM. My advice; how about giving that concept a rest and letting your customers speak on the benefits of your methodology!
I can only speak for my company, Reliability Solutions, Inc. and our methodology RCM Blitz; we have been successful and continue to be successful because our clients continue to speak to the success RCM Blitz has provided for their companies at conferences year after year. I would like to say that I was one of the first people who believed that Reliability Centered Maintenance should sell itself with return on investment in improved reliability as well as EHS performance.
